One, it seems like every artist releases as least one during an album cycle. Second, the song reminds me of the radio version of Evanescence's "My Immortal", which is one of my favorite rock ballads of all time. Not the lyrics, but the structure of the song as a whole. It is my favorite ballad on the album obviously, and it seems to be a hit at their shows too. In all honesty though, I think almost every song on the album would work as a single.

I loooove "Innocence", but I don't think they'll release it as a single. And Killowertz, I agree with you about "Poison"....definitely could be a big hit for them.

I don't think the 2 songs are that similar in structure, but I know what you mean in a haunting melody aspect. Perhaps Atlantic will veer off that road so as not to seem to "Amy". Lzzy and the band are a much harder rockin' band than Ev., and the label might want that established before releasing the 'sensitive side' so as not to draw early comparisons, so my guess is "It's Not You". "T.O.P" (Taste of Poison) will be a hit though, so it's a tough call in that regard. As much as I clearly like it (see name) I think they might wait a bit. Structurally though "Poison's" chorus would be better compared to "Drink Before The War" by Sinead, or "Don't Cry" by GnR. You could also add 100's more like it to the list I'm sure. What makes "Poison" special is what she did with the melody within, and that voice! < that's me shedding a tear cuz her voice is so beautiful. "Poison" is a song people are loving live, real connection song, lost of hoots and hollers to her vocal grace. Not to draw compare again, but it fits as "Don't Cry" was the same for GnR in the early days. It was their most successful song and the one that got them signed. They left it off "Appetite" all together and saved it for later. I'm glad Halestorm didn't do that, but I see it as a "save for later" kind of monster song in that same way.

Ok, maybe I should have worded it better than I did. "Familiar Taste of Poison" reminds me of what is called the band version of "My Immortal" because of how it is slow for the most part, and then kicks in with the drums and guitar near the end, and then ends slow again. I actually don't think Evanescence and Halestorm are that similar either. Evanescence is more on the metal side, while Halestorm is pretty much mainstream rock (not that there's anything wrong with either of course). I also agree that they shouldn't release the song as the second single. It would be wise to release "It's Not You" second, as that is a fantastic song and yet another in your face type of a song. Slowing things down with a ballad as the third song would be ideal, and that is where "Familiar Taste of Poison" comes in. While I like all of the songs, I think that is easily the best ballad on the album.
